American Association for Homecare

AAHomecare’s Action Center

AAHomecare is advancing strategic federal policy initiatives and spearheading payer relations activities in partnership with state associations.  Current efforts include:

  • Rate relief for CBAs and non-bid non-rural areas
  • Protecting rural area rates
  • Securing Medicaid and MCO rate stability
  • Addressing MCO claims issues
  • Ensuring patient access and choice
  • Implementing DME protections for payers
  • And more!

With your support, we can build upon our recent wins that put more than $2 billion back in suppliers pockets in the past two years alone.  Be sure to check out this resource to see what AAHomecare has done for you.

We also encourage you to take action at AAHomecare’s Take Action Center . Send a letter to your Senators and Representative urging their support for one of the issues mentioned above. AAHomecare updates the action center frequently with new and pressing issues. It’s fast, easy-to-use, and free.

Stand Up for Homecare

Working together as a united industry, we can make a large impact on the public and policymakers through the Stand up for Homecare campaign. Funds from the campaign help communicate the value of HME and raise awareness of the extraordinary contributions by suppliers in protecting patients and reducing stress on hospitals and clinicians during pandemics and beyond.

Funds raised through Stand Up for Homecare allow AAHomecare to provide support for the ITEM Coalition, a group of more than 80 patient advocacy groups that have been active and effective allies on HME legislative and regulatory issues. Contributions have also been used to help grow our capacity to mobilize grassroots outreach to Capitol Hill on legislative priorities.

Connect with your fellow HME leaders, celebrate our industry’s role in providing essential home-based care, and recharge yourself for the challenges ahead at the Stand Up for Homecare reception! This industry hallmark is the foundation for positive change in the HME community.

The fundraising reception will be held on March 27, 2024 from 5:30-7:00 PM at d.e.c. on dragon, an event venue with outdoor deck space overlooking downtown Dallas, located at 1414 Dragon St, Dallas, TX 75207.

About AAHomecare

The American Association for Homecare (AAHomecare) works to strengthen access to care for the millions of Americans who require medical care in their homes. AAHomecare represents healthcare providers, equipment manufacturers, and other organizations in the homecare community. Our members serve the medical needs of millions of Americans who require oxygen equipment and therapy, mobility assistive technologies, medical supplies, inhalation drug therapy, home infusion, and other home medical equipment, therapies, services, and supplies in the home. Membership reflects a broad cross-section of the homecare community, including providers of all sizes operating approximately 3,000 locations in all 50 states.

The association advocates on behalf of the entire homecare community in legislative and regulatory arenas at the federal and state level. On a daily basis, AAHomecare staff and government relations consultants communicate with Members of Congress, key Committees, and Congressional staff as well as various federal agencies, especially the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and our payor relations team builds relationships with private payors, MCOs, and government contractors, as well as works side by side with state association to engage state health departments and legislators.

AAHomecare also provides information about compliance issues, industry trends and data, forums for education and training, networking opportunities, and consumer information.

The American Association for Homecare strongly encourages members to take an active role in legislative matters by establishing ongoing relationships with their Members of Congress and state legislators and by participating in the AAHomecare PAC.
