ANAHEIM, CA – MK Battery’s Power for Funding initiatives have raised more than $150,000 over the last three years to help advance industry advocacy and lobbying efforts. It’s a legacy that Wayne Merdinger seeks to continue when he takes over as the Calif-based company’s new executive vice president and general manager.
Mark Wels, president of MK Battery, announced the appointment last week, citing Merdinger’s 35 years of health care related sales, marketing, and general management experience as assets for the new position.
“My responsibilities may have expanded with my new position, but my passion for working to ensure the long-term viability of the HME community, while protecting access to quality care in the home, has not changed,” says Merdinger. “The senior management team at MK Battery is comprised of individuals who, collectively, have well over 100 years of HME experience and, as a team, we are committed to do our part in advancing the interests of all HME industry stakeholders and meeting the enormous challenges that we all face.”
A crucial part of meeting those challenges will again be attending Medtrade, scheduled for Oct 7-10 in Orlando, Fla. Merdinger has attended the nation’s premiere show since 1987, but this year, he says, could mean even more than the rest. “This year,” says Merdinger. “I think it really is the most important Medtrade ever, because there is so much at stake in our industry.”
MK Battery officials vow to continue their support of vital industry and trade organizations that are taking the fight to Washington. “We are also continuing our involvement in presenting the Consumer Advocacy Pavilion at Medtrade,” adds Merdinger. “We are also sponsoring the United States Power Soccer Association and their Team USA affiliate and with our own direct legislative efforts.”
