Moving the HME Industry Forward

Real Provider, Real Improvement at Medtrade

June 30, 2014

WEST SENECA, NY – Seven years ago, Jennifer Kostowniak wanted to streamline the billing process at Buffalo Wheelchair. At the time, the West Seneca, NY-based provider was only sending electronic claims to Medicare and Medicaid. All the rest were being printed and sent on paper.

As reimbursement specialist/software administrator at Buffalo Wheelchair, Kostowniak turned to ZirMed, a longtime Medtrade exhibitor based in Louisville, Kentucky. “ZirMed opened up the opportunity to send claims to most of our private payers,” she says. “Since signing on with them we have added electronic remits and credit card processing.”

Nate Davis, product manager at ZirMed (Booth #2633 at Medtrade, scheduled for Oct 20-23, 2014, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta) ultimately worked with Buffalo Medical, and Medtrade attendees will have the opportunity to learn from their success.

“With insurances decreasing reimbursements, and the change for customers to high deductible plans, it is increasingly difficult to keep revenue up,” says Davis. “The more you can do with less staff the better.”

Kostowniak and Davis will share their experiences on Tuesday, Oct 21, 2014, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM Eastern Time. The presentation is called How Buffalo Wheelchair Streamlined, and it is under the Business Operations Track.

During Expo hours, providers will have the opportunity to visit with ZirMed at Booth #2633. “ZirMed has exhibited at Medtrade for several years now,” enthuses Davis. “Medtrade connects us with our DME clients and provides us insight into what’s new in their world.”
