CLEVELAND – Medical Service Company has decided to expand. The midwest provider recently opened two new branches—one in Northern Kentucky (Crestview Hills) not far from the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky airport, and another in Rochester, NY.
The Northern Kentucky office is within minutes of numerous hospitals and diagnostic sleep centers, and will allow Medical Service Company to serve local patients with oxygen, respiratory, and sleep equipment.
“We have decided to expand with two new branch openings because they are in competitive bidding areas in which we hold a bid,” explains Joel Marx, chairman, Medical Service Company, and frequent Medtrade attendee. “With pricing leveling out between bid and non-bid markets, it only makes sense to focus expanded attention on more densely populated competitive bidding areas. I am afraid that eventually, rural markets will lose providers when the new reduced rates are completely phased in leaving these patients struggling to find service providers.”
The second office in Rochester is within minutes of numerous hospitals and diagnostic sleep centers, and the location represents a chance to continue the company’s longtime service of Upstate New York. Marx is able to make the expansion at least in part thanks to new technology.
“We are moving more and more to cloud-based technology, including implementation of Brightree [Booth #622 at Medtrade Spring, scheduled for Feb 29-March 2, 2016, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas] as a platform for all our offices,” he says. “The cloud technology allows us to have people working all over the country providing back office support, regardless of the location of the patient and the office. In addition, telephone technology allows very detailed phone routing that allows case management/intake people to handle calls and overflow from various branch locations.”
