It’s All in the Planning

For many years, a leading bubble bath manufacturer has used the slogan, “Take Me Away.” HME providers may feel the same way when you look at the issues facing the industry: national competitive bidding, oxygen rental caps and transfer of ownership, mobility product coding, and much more. Instead of running away, though, the best defense is to run forward with education, beneficial manufacturer relationships and knowledge that will assist you in knowing how to survive and prosper.

That’s why the first step in your plan should be to make plans now to attend Medtrade 2008. The industry’s leading event will take place October 27 – 30 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta. The Educational Conference and Expo will give HME providers the information that is needed to create a strategy for success.

Medtrade 2008 will host a number of special events. Two all-day, pre-show conference events, Medtrade’s Continuum of Care and Medtrade’s Reimbursement Conference, “Conquering the DME Challenges: Competitive Bidding, Reimbursement and Accreditation,” will take place Monday, October 27. Both are presented by the American Association for Homecare.

The Continuum of Care Conference will be an intense full-day workshop that will educate business owners and clinicians regarding clinical protocols, operational issues and legal guidelines. According to Kim Kianka, AAHomecare’s senior director of education and meeting, “At the end of the conference, the attendees will be exhausted, but well-informed.”

Attendees will earn CEUs and CECs by participating in the three tracks: Rehabilitation & Assistive Technology, sponsored by Mobility Management; Oxygen & Respiratory, sponsored by Respironics; and Sleep-Disordered Breathing, sponsored by ResMed.

“Conquering the DME Challenges: Competitive Bidding, Reimbursement and Accreditation” will address these critical topics and offer real-life solutions by the industry’s leading experts.

The Medtrade Educational Conference will begin on Tuesday, October 28 and will present a full program on issues from accreditation to business operations to legislative issue updates. This year, the conference will include a Competitive Bidding track to specifically tackle the industry’s leading concern.

The Expo will showcase manufacturers and suppliers of the latest home healthcare products available. Attendees will be able to interact face-to-face with exhibitors and come away with new product lines, valuable support programs and new ideas for creative business strategies.
